Neithal Beach House

From Timber to Treasure - What Wood Becomes in the Right Hands

Set along the Kerala coast, this home carries the weight and warmth of traditional woodcraft into a beachside setting. High quality teak frames the staircase and window bays, while stained glass panels catch the coastal light and scatter it across the floor through the day. Every joint and rafter was worked by artisans meticlous effort and expertise, keeping the structure close to the vernacular building methods this region is known for.

Craft in Every Corner

The carved front door sets the tone for what follows inside. Antique brassware, hand-turned wooden legs on the seating, and a coloured-glass ceiling all draw from the same design vocabulary passed down through generations of Kerala carpenters. Nothing here was mass-produced. Each piece, from the door panels to the sofa frame, was cut, carved, and finished on site to match the house’s original character.

Furniture Built to Outlast Trends

The chairs, benches, and stools placed through this home reflect a range of periods and regional styles, from planter’s chairs with cane webbing to Anglo-Indian bench seating with turned spindles. The balcony façade, with its sloped tile roof and carved wooden railings, anchors the house in Kerala’s older residential architecture and gives the interior pieces a setting that feels lived-in rather than staged.
